SCELC’s Shared Print Program (SPP) is a collaborative initiative aiming to promote broad availability and long-term sustainability of print monographs as a shared collection among participating institutions.
Features of Shared Print include:
The Shared Print Committee guides the program.
The Shared Print program brings great value to the more than 50 participating libraries and their institutions, as well as to all of their resource sharing partners.
Currently, the program has preserved 2.9 million unique titles, with more coming.
The program is making an impact on developing collections reflecting the diversity of our community, including an array of religious, hispanic, and African-American scholarship. In particular the inclusion of libraries from ATLA, CSU, and minority-serving institutions have enriched the collection.
The program is looking to the future. A SHARP union catalog is currently welcoming retention commitment records and SHARP can now be integrated on request with the EBSCO discovery system. Future development to integrate SHARP with other ILL systems using Open URL is planned for FY 2025.
Local institutions also benefit from the data analysis tools available for Shared Print collections. Powered by GreenGlass, participants can make weeding decisions with confidence and leverage a deep understanding of their collection’s strengths and distinctions.
