Amplifying Library Impact

Shared Print Program

SCELC’s Shared Print Program promotes broad availability and long-term sustainability of print monographs as a shared collection among participating institutions.

Onboarding Process

SCELC will work with you throughout the onboarding and retention commitment process.

The following is an overview of what to expect during your institution's onboarding. Full details can be found in the Shared Print Documentation.

  1. Institution submits the interest form available on this page.
  2. SCELC will follow up with information and request the OCLC Collection Inquiry form to develop a quote specific to your institution
  3. Once the quote is agreed to, the institution will place their order and sign the SPP MOU
  4. Next, a webinar with OCLC will be scheduled to discuss the GreenGlass setup process, including the selection of comparison groups
  5. The institution will then prepare their records and FTP these to OCLC
  6. The GreenGlass team will then execute lookups in WorldCat and incorporate comparator holdings information into GreenGlass
  7. Another webinar will be scheduled with OCLC and SCELC to go over the retention commitment process and advise the institution on how to make retention decisions
  8. GreenGlass will incorporate the final retention decisions and be released to the institution for use to aid weeding and other collection decisions.
  9. The institution will then begin registering their commitments in both their local system and WorldCat
  10. The library can now enjoy the benefits of the Share Print Program
