Open Access Task Force

Charge

The Open Access Task Force is charged with exploring, evaluating, and recommending opportunities for SCELC to support and optimize open access (OA) collection integration, linking, and repository support. This task force will review strategic partnerships, innovative solutions, and best practices to enhance the discovery, delivery, and visibility of OA resources within SCELC library collections. The task force will evaluate SCELC staff and consultant recommendations that align with SCELC’s values and long-term goals, ensuring that OA resources are seamlessly integrated into library services while maximizing their accessibility for all users.

Potential Key Objectives

  • Participate in an Ease/Impact, SWOT, PPCO, or similar examination of possible initiatives

  • Review consultant and staff findings on current OA trends and partnerships relevant to SCELC.Evaluate solutions to optimize OA content integration and linking

  • Provide input on minimum viable product (MVP) for repository models for open access and open educational resources (OER)

  • Provide input on MVP for increasing OA discoverability

  • Recommend metrics to assess the impact of SCELC OA support services

Potential Deliverables:

  • A list of recommendations for SCELC's involvement in advancing open access integration across its members.
