The SCELC Board approved four Strategic Pillars on September 27, 2024.
The new strategic pillars will guide SCLEC's strategy for the consortia through 2028. The pillars were defined through a strategic planning process that spanned eight months of community engagement.
As libraries increasingly rely on digital infrastructure, SCELC will develop and support cutting-edge technologies for digital resource sharing, data analytics, and research management. We will provide members with the tools they need to implement AI-infused technologies and other advancements that ensure innovative and seamless library services.
While SCELC seeks to expand into new service areas, our foundational functions remain critical to our members. Negotiation and licensing are at the heart of our consortium’s value. As we diversify, SCELC remains committed to excellence in our traditional role of negotiating the best possible terms for our members and will continue to innovate in this core area.
SCELC will continue to expand beyond transformative agreements by optimizing open access (OA) content integration, enhancing linking capabilities, and providing repository support. Our goal is to increase access to and the visibility of open scholarly resources, making it easier for our libraries to offer their users comprehensive OA content alongside licensed collections.
SCELC will help member libraries demonstrate their value through tailored impact analyses, customized training, and the development of clear ROI reports. These tools will help libraries better communicate their contributions to student success, faculty research, and overall institutional goals, aligning libraries more effectively with broader campus missions.
Taken together, the four pillars will provide a framework for SCELC to meet our community's evolving needs through tailored and sustainable programs and services.
SCELC is now building capacity to support our strategic pillars.
Staff will begin work to develop operational plans, hire required talent and work with our committees to develop organizational structures to better channel community contributions and insights.
