JSTORWe’re excited to announce that SCELC has joined with JSTOR to deliver to its Member institutions JSTOR Digital Stewardship Services, a community-driven initiative to develop the next generation of AI-powered tools for managing, preserving, and sharing digital collections.

“Through this collaboration, participating libraries we will have a choice of three tiers with 2-year subsidies and ongoing support from dedicated SCELC staff,” said Teri Oaks Gallaway, Executive Director of SCELC.

The options available to SCELC libraries are:

Tier 1: Enhanced discoverability of digital collections through JSTOR

Tier 2: Integrated digital asset management and long-term preservation via Portico, plus Tier 1 features.

Tier 3: All of Tier 1 and 2, plus access to JSTOR Seeklight, an AI-powered collection processing tool.

Participating SCELC libraries will also help shape and contribute to the overall development of JSTOR Digital Stewardship. JSTOR is a mission-driven nonprofit, and this work builds on their long-standing commitment to the academic community, ensuring that the tools we use in the future are practitioner-informed, responsibly developed, and built to last.

“We appreciate SCELC’s support and collaboration as we continue to invest in and develop JSTOR Digital Stewardship Services,” said Rebecca Seger, VP, Institutional Participation and Strategic Partnerships, ITHAKA. “We look forward to working together to ensure archival systems and workflows empower librarians to meet their aspirations for stewarding their distinctive collections with care and impact.”

At SCELC, we are building for the future, with tools and partnerships that align with our mission and allow our libraries to punch above their weight. We’re proud to be part of JSTOR Digital Stewardship Services and lead the way forward in digital collection management.
