Reciprocal Interlibrary Loan (RILL) Policies and Procedures

Policies

1. SCELC Member libraries (and affiliate libraries participating in the Shared Print program) may elect to participate in a reciprocal agreement for interlibrary loan of books and providing of copies of journal articles.

2. SCELC libraries that participate in this agreement provide gratis loans and copies to other SCELC library participants.

3. Participating libraries adhere to the provisions of the “Interlibrary Loan Code for the United States”.

4. It is recommended that participating libraries utilize load balancing methods, for example through use of the SCELC (symbol is SCLC) Reciprocal ILL profile group, the creation of an OCLC custom holdings group, or through the use of Rapid. 
5. No participant may provide materials received through RILL to resellers.

 Procedures

Participating libraries will use standard interlibrary loan procedures and will indicate “SCELC RILL” on all requests.
