SCELC Colloquium – Call for "Lightning Talk" Proposals

SCELC Colloquium is a great time to learn about the latest national trends and new ideas in academic libraries. Now, you can share as well!

We are currently accepting proposals for brief (7 minutes) presentations to be given at the upcoming SCELCapalooza 2024. This year, Lightning Talks return as in-person presentations on Thursday, February 29 at Loyola Marymount University. This is a great opportunity to share your library’s recent projects or innovations with your SCELC colleagues!

Your proposal should be an idea that you can simplify into a 7-minute presentation. (Note: due to popular feedback, PPDC has expanded the Lightning Talk format from 5 to 7 minutes!) The topic should be something new and interesting and presented in a way that captivates your colleagues.

Examples of possible topics include:

  • Social Justice of DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion): deepening and expanding DEI values in libraries and information centers
  • Library Technology, or Electronic Collections Access, or OER (Open Educational Resources)
  • Reference & Instruction Strategies
  • General Library Operations: Outreach, Planning, Budgeting, Assessment
  • Library Technology
    • Integrating library technologies with other academic technologies
  • Or anything else you want to suggest!
