SCELC Channel One: How Do We Communicate the Value of Libraries at SCELC Institutions?
UPDATE: This week's chatlog is available here, and the recording is below:
This week’s session is all about the value and impact of the provided by SCELC libraries– how you communicate it, the audiences you have in mind when you do, and the kinds of documentation that work best at your institution. And we’ll do it with some show and tell!
We’ll start off with Jason Price, SCELC’s Research and Scholarly Communications Director, who will show off a new feature for SCELC Member institutions: our Program Participation Summary Reports (PPSRs) an annual report which provides a comprehensive view of engagement with SCELC and the value that membership brings to your library. If your institution is a SCELC Member and you have not yet received a PPSR, please fill out this request form to receive a copy. This is a brand new offering, so we’d love to hear feedback about what works well, and what could be improved for our PPSRs next year
But the main focus this week is to ask you all in the community to share the kinds of reporting that you guys do on your campus to communicate the value of your library. Do you have something like SCELC’s PPSRs that you send out to your campus community? Glossy one-sheeters? Customized outreach campaigns? One-on-one consultations with campus leadership? We’re especially seeking sample materials that you’d like to show and tell back to the whole C1 community, so please DM me if you’d like to step up this week to share communications strategies that have been successful for your library.
Come through this week at our usual timeslot, 10AM Pacific @ https://bit.ly/SCELC-Channel-One.
SCELC Channel One is the virtual hub for our consortial community: a regular but flexible-format group call for SCELCers far and wide. What started in early 2020 as a weekly online COVID-19 pandemic check-in slowly morphed into a monthly standing community discussion group. Topics range from focused webinar content and announcements from SCELC Staff, to guest presentations or even totally free-form watercooler hangouts with your SCELC peers. We keep things as tight or loose as the community needs to be in Channel One.
No registration is required, and all SCELC librarians and staff are welcome! Join us on designated Fridays @ 10AM Pacific. Sessions are recorded unless otherwise noted, and our Channel One Archives are here.
