SCELC Channel One: Research Incentive Awards Showcase
UPDATE: Today's chatlog is available here, and the recording is live below:
Part of SCELC's mission is to support our consortial community with special funding in the form of our awards and scholarships programs. Last November, I hosted a broad look at SCELC's awards portfolio with our Program/Professional Development Committee. One of the big discussion points in that session was our Research Incentive Award that had just returned from a brief hiatus while we reworked some of its parameters (I *highly recommend* rewatching that recording starting at ~40:02 for context). I want to devote Friday's session to a debrief of the Research Incentive Award after its successful relaunch!
This week, I've invited last year's Research Incentive Award winners to come share about their projects, their first-hand experience with our relaunched the Research Incentive Award, and provide some insight about the awards and grants hustle in general for everyone to learn from! We'll welcome our two 2023 award recipients to the session:
Jennifer Beamer, Ph.D.
Head, Scholarly Communications and Open Publishing Services, The Claremont Colleges
National Institute for Informatics Japan: A Socio-Technical Exploration of the Open Access Infrastructure
Doug DeChow, Ph.D.
Assistant Dean for Library Research & Data Services Librarian, Chapman University
Building Coordinating Data Support Services
SCELC Channel One is the virtual hub for our consortial community: a regular but flexible-format group call for SCELCers far and wide. What started in early 2020 as a weekly online COVID-19 pandemic check-in slowly morphed into a monthly standing community discussion group. Topics range from focused webinar content and announcements from SCELC Staff, to guest presentations or even totally free-form watercooler hangouts with your SCELC peers. We keep things as tight or loose as the community needs to be in Channel One.
No registration is required, and all SCELC librarians and staff are welcome! Join us on designated Fridays @ 10AM Pacific. Sessions are recorded unless otherwise noted, and our Channel One Archives are here.
