Each year SCELC offers scholarships for staff of SCELC member libraries who are currently enrolled in an ALA-accredited graduate library science program. The SCELC Program and Professional Development Committee heads up the evaluation of applications.
2011 Scholarship Program
To be eligible, applicants must be currently employed at a SCELC Member Library, enrolled in an ALA-accredited graduate library science program, and must have completed at least six (6) credit hours at the time of application.
The lead scholarship of $1,500 is our new Locke Morrisey Scholarship, named in memory and honor of our colleague from the University of San Francisco. The remaining scholarships are $1,000 scholarships.
The following items need to be submitted by the deadline below:
- The application form.
- A personal statement, no longer than one typed page, which details your objective for attaining the degree.
- Two (2) signed letters of recommendation, one of which must be from your library director or department head.
- Your program transcripts (official copy preferred, but unofficial accepted).

Scholarship recipients are required to submit their final grades for the term in which the award is used to SCELC.
DEADLINE
All application materials must be received at the SCELC Office by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2011.
Award winners will be notified after June 13, 2011.
