Product Description: 

ACLS Humanities E-Book (HEB) is an online collection of more than 5400 books of high quality in the humanities and related social sciences, accessible through institutional subscription. These titles are offered in collaboration with the ACLS learned societies, 125 contributing publishers, and the Michigan Publishing division at the University of Michigan Library.

The result is an online, fully searchable collection of high-quality books in the humanities and humanistic social sciences, recommended and reviewed by scholars. These are works of major importance that remain vital to both scholars and advanced students, and are frequently cited in the literature.

AWARD WINNERS AND ACLS FELLOWS BOOKS

The HEB collection offers unlimited multi-user access and free, downloadable MARC records. HEB is available 24/7 on- and off-campus through standard web browsers. There is no special platform and there are never any "seats" or restrictions on online access to any HEB title. A text version of any HEB title is available at the touch of a button and DRM-free, so there are no barriers to using voice-to-text readers with the HEB collection.

Fields currently covered include Area and Historical Studies in the following: African, American, Asian, Australasian/Oceanian, Byzantine, Canadian, Caribbean, Central European, Comparative/World, Eastern European/Russian, Economic, Environmental, European, Islamic Studies, Jewish Studies, Latin American, Law, LGBT/Queer Studies, Medicine, Methods/Theory, Middle East, Native Peoples of the Americas, Science/Technology, Women’s Studies. HEB also encompasses the fields of Archaeology, Art and Architectural History, Biblical Studies, Bibliographic Studies, Film and Media Studies, Folklore, Linguistics, Literature, Literary Criticism, Musicology, Performance Studies (theater, music, dance), Philosophy, Political Science, Religion, and Sociology.

Important for both its content and its usefulness as a research tool, HEB currently reaches a combined FTE of several million.

Overlap: On average, there is less than 10% overlap between HEB and the JSTOR, Muse, or EBSCO, or ProQuest subscription collections. Due to HEB's focus on backlist, HEB titles are often the only electronic versions of these books.
