SCELC Vendor Day 2007: About Brill Academic Publishing

Encyclopaedia of the Qur'an: Drawing upon a rich scholarly heritage, Brill's Encyclopaedia of the Qur'an (EQ) combines alphabetically-arranged articles about the contents of the Qur'an. It is an encyclopaedic dictionary of qur'anic terms, concepts, personalities, place names, cultural history and exegesis extended with essays on the most important themes and subjects within qur'anic studies. With nearly 1000 entries in 5 volumes, the EQ is the first comprehensive, multi-volume reference work on the Qur'an to appear in a Western language. The Encyclopaedia of the Qur'an online contains the complete articles of the printed volumes 1 to 5. The indices are scheduled to appear first Quarter of 2006.

Encyclopaedia of Islam Online Edition: The entire text of Volumes I to XI and Supplement (Volume XII) of the monumental, printed edition of the Encyclopaedia of Islam is now easily available on your computer screen. The guiding principle in developing the online version of the Encyclopaedia of Islam was to supply its users with exactly the same information the book itself would provide. This also applies for important details such as the transliteration system; in order to present the reader with the familiar print characteristics, a special font has been developed for the display — and searching — of the transliterations. The Online version includes the Encyclopaedia of Islam (English) Volumes I-XI and Supplement (Volume XII)

Encyclopaedia of Women & Islamic Cultures Online: Brill is proud to announce the online publication of the Encyclopaedia of Women & Islamic Cultures. Brill's Encyclopaedia of Women & Islamic Culture covers the lateset research on gender studies and the Islamic world. The online publication will cover all six volumes of the print edition, published between 2003 and 2007. The readership includes students and researchers in the fields of gender studies, Middle Eastern and Islamic studies, as well as scholars of religion, history, politics, anthropology, geography and related disciplines.

Brill's New Pauly: Brill's New Pauly is the English edition of the authoritative Der neue Pauly, published by Verlag J.B. Metzler since 1996. Der neue Pauly is the unrivalled modern reference work for classicists, historians, archaeologists, and other scholars of the ancient world. Brill's new English edition expands and updates many aspects of the work. Fifteen volumes of Brill's New Pauly are devoted to Greco-Roman antiquity. Special emphasis is given to the interactions of Greco-Roman culture with Semitic, Celtic, Germanic, and Slavonic cultures, and with ancient Judaism, Christianity, and early Islam. Five volumes (Classical Tradition, I–V) are concerned entirely with the process of continuous reinterpretation and revaluation of the ancient heritage, including the history of classical scholarship. Many entries are enhanced with maps and illustrations. Bibliographic references are updated for the ongoing English edition.
