SCELC Vendor Day 2007: About American Psychological Association

This year's presentation will focus on the launch of the new PsycNET platform which delivers our five databases (PsycINFO®, PsycARTICLES®, PsycBOOKS™, PsycEXTRA™ and PsycCRITIQUES™) on one feature-rich interface. Although the interface is still in beta test, we look forward to showing you the new platform which now includes the Thesaurus of Psychological Index Terms™, cross-database searching, the addition of author and journal indexes and more.

We will also include in the presentation product updates on our five databases:

• The loading of PsycARTICLES® historical content from 1894-1984 has been completed and now includes full-text coverage of all APA Journals to Volume 1, Issue 1
• The retrospective database in PsycCRITIQUES™ has almost doubled this year, with the addition of APA's complete collection of book reviews back to the 1950s.
• More full-text chapters from APA Books are newly released into PsycBOOKS™ every month—the collection now totals 19,000 chapters from more than 1200 books. Over 300 books have been added in the past year!
• PsycEXTRA® has expanded to now provide access to more than 90,000 documents, most with full text, to unpublished technical reports, conference presentations, and other valuable resources from a growing list of distinguished institutional providers
• The number of new abstracts added each year to PsycINFO® is growing rapidly...161,000 records were added in 2006, with the database now covering a critical mass of more than 2.3 million references to literature from the 19th century to the present.
