Camino Policies
Hold for Pickup
We will hold a borrowed item for ten (10) days from the time we receive it. If our patron does not pick up the item, it will be returned to the Lending Library after these 10 days.
Internal Due Date
The due date for a borrowed item will be 45 days from the date the patron picks it up. We can override this date in the Navigator Request Engine (NRE) and our local systems if the Loan period granted by the Lending Library is shorter. (example: for videos)
Renewals
Because the initial loan period is 45 days, there will be no renewals in Camino.
Grace Period
A patron will be given a two-day grace period until overdue fines start to accrue.
Recall
Items may be recalled over NRE. This recall needs to be communicated to and honored by the patron.
Institutional Due Date
The Institutional Due Date is 60 days. This ensures adequate transit time for the item to be received from and returned to the Lending Library.
Response Time
A Lender should respond to a borrowing request within 24 to 48 hours. (Weekends and holidays not included) This will help maintain a quick turn-around time. [Requests are set up to roll over to the next lender after 4 days]
Responsibility for Borrowed Items
Consistent with the InterLibrary Loan Code, the Borrowing library is responsible for loss or damage of borrowed items from the time the item is shipped until it is received back by the Lending Library.
Overdue Fines
Overdue Fines will be determined internally by a library.
Replacement
The Lending and Borrowing libraries will negotiate terms for replacement or compensation for lost or damaged items.
Eligible Borrowers
A Library will internally determine which borrowers are eligible to borrow from other Camino Libraries. The Library assumes responsibility for its borrowers.
